“Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.” Isaiah 9: 6, 7
In a time when all things religious are being discouraged and swept away, isn’t it refreshing to know that most Americans want no part of that when it comes to Christmas.
More and more vocal Christians are attacking what they say is a “war on Christmas” by those determined to enforce a strictly neutral holiday season reflecting America’s so-called constitutional separation of church and state.
People are tired of being told not to celebrate Christmas; they are tired of the ACLU. They are tired of being told to say the politically correct “Happy Holidays” over the traditional “Merry Christmas.” Even retailers like Wal-Mart last year scrapped their plans to tell customers “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas” because of outraged Christian organizations and consumers.
I for one am encouraged by this, but we still have so much more to accomplish if we are to once more make this a nation that is “One Nation, Under God.”
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
