Local Christian Student Highlights
Westlake Preparatory Lutheran Academy
Jonathan Pan is about to finish Kindergarten at Westlake Preparatory Lutheran Academy. In addition to regular school attendance, Jonathan has also found time to learn to swim, play the piano, and take martial arts lessons. He can swim the freestyle and back stroke, play classical music pieces, and has already earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Having lived in Taiwan for the past three years, Jonathan is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and quickly started to learn English after moving back to Katy in December 2010. He opted to be a contestant in the Spelling Bee to demonstrate his affection for the English words. His favorite subject with Mrs. Miesner is Math because she challenges him with advanced concepts.
In Wednesday chapel, Jonathan loves the song “Waves of Mercy” because it makes him feel bright and happy. He believe Jesus when he says “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.” (Genesis 28:15)

Madeleine Jones is currently in her eighth year at Grace Classical Academy. Her artistic endeavors include creative writing, drawing, decorative woodworking and designing beaded jewelry pieces.
Maddie’s extracurricular activities include studying piano and playing soccer, which she hopes to pursue in high school. She plans to run track, as well. Her Clydesdale and Siberian Husky have a special place in her heart and schedule. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends on the lake and likes traveling, especially to places where she is able to surf, snorkel, horse back ride, or snow board.
She understands the need for positive role models and strives to be an encourager to other girls. Looking toward the future, Madeleine is interested in marine biology and veterinary medicine. She is seeking the Lord’s guidance for her path, wherever He may lead.
