At Tista’s Fine Furniture, Owner Deborah Bautista has made it her life mission to help others create the feeling of home inside the walls of their home.
Deborah has over 35 years of experience in the furniture business. She has worked for several furniture businesses, including several big-box stores. After years of seeing those businesses put their commission before their customer, she decided to start her own business.
“My goal is to treat other people how I want to be treated,” Deborah said. “I wanted to offer customers something better.”
Tista’s Fine Furniture opened in 2006 off of Grand Parkway, but recently to moved to the downtown Katy area. Since the move, they have been enjoying the small town atmosphere and friendly community of the area. From Tista’s 5,000 customers, they have delivered pieces to Florida, Colorado, California, Canada and even overseas.
“We’ve had previous customers call us after they have been transferred overseas to help them find furniture for their new home,” Deborah said. “We are kind of like a family. Once we have a customer they keep coming back.”
Through Tista’s unique and high quality home furnishings, they aim to find just what their customers are looking for and within their budget. Whether it is floor coverings or window coverings, mattresses or sofas, or even accessories and light fixtures, Tista’s has it.
“I enjoy making my customers’ homes nice and creating a place they can make great memories,” Deborah said. “I really think that is the most important thing. Your home should be something your kids and family come to and never forget.”
Tista’s offers items in all price ranges to meet any customer’s needs. No matter what the price tag says, the piece of furniture, accessory or mattress will be of the highest quality available. It is extremely important to Deborah and her team to help customers select furniture that will provide for them for years to come.
“People work hard for their money,” Deborah said. “They should get something that will last a long time.”
Tista’s even offers a free in-home design service for customers. Deborah or someone from her team will come to a customer’s home and conduct a consultation so they can help the customer find the perfect piece for their home. Whether it is one room or the entire home, they will assist with it all.
“Most furniture stores could careless about the customer when they walk into the door,” Deborah said. “They are focused on getting a commission. We really enjoy taking time with our customers to get the right piece for them.”
Tista’s strives to find the best bargain and deal for their customers as well. With Deborah’s experience, she has discovered the best bargain sources and closeouts, and wants to extend those to her customers.
“We try to build something really special for them, yet keep them in their budget,” Deborah said. “It’s a big deal to us to keep the customer in their budget. We really care and want to work with our customers.”
Not only does Tista’s offer a variety of exceptional home furnishings, they also frequently stage homes for a group of relators. With Deborah’s keen eye for home furnishing design, she helps families sell their homes by making them look their best. In some cases, Deborah has generously offered her staging services at no cost to help families in financial stress sell their homes quickly.
Tista’s charitable activity doesn’t stop there though. Not only is Tista’s involved with several local organizations, like Katy Independent School District’s mentorship program, but she gives directly to those in need through the Help a Sister Out Resale Shop.
“Those women are amazing,” Deborah said. “They have helped build houses for battered and less fortunate women, and they do a lot of other great stuff for them.”
Deborah supports the organization by donating furniture to help furnish those homes. She also gives back to her customers in a special way. For several years, Tista’s hosts a customer appreciation night during the holiday season. Deborah goes out and shops for some of the most unique holiday decorations and then sells them at closeout prices at the event.
“It is really a fun event,” Deborah said. “People get very excited about it and the greatest thing is they are getting 80 to 90% off decorations before the holidays, not after. I just love it.”
